A LITTLE SUMMER FUN.
The sun came out and created a beautiful display of mountains and flowers, and endless summer day. Hurriedly, we gathered the
children for a trek they would not forget, and ran through the forest, and climbed up the hills. Along the way, we met daisies, eagles, puppies and hikers. We made
up silly names, played fun games and stopped again and again, to pick wild flower bouquets and drink in the sun. We climbed to a cabin
at the top of the mountain, where we found half-burned candles and shelter and shade. We walked toward views worth waiting for, until we could climb
no more. Then we stopped to take in all that was before us: the sunshine, the silhouetted lines, the jagged peaks of glory, and everything that lit up our fantastic story.
The time came to turn around, so we began our climb down over mountains of green, along the edge of alpine, across rocky terrain, up through the forest that stunk like a bear, and
down, down, down, back to town. To fill well-deserved bellies with vanilla ice cream and take home happy, sleepy children to tuck in bed where they dream of hiking through
the forest and mountains galore. Tired children dreaming of clouds beneath their feet as they venture through the Alaska mountains to finish their race.
And then there was ice cream…
